More and more couples want to mark Valentine's Day with gestures that are sensory, tender and truly personal. Among these ideas, the Valentine's Day candle stands out as the ultimate romantic gift: warm, fragrant and intimate, it sets a loving mood the moment it's lit.

From its emotional benefits to how it's made with plant-based wax, let's explore how to create an exceptional candle that's sure to make hearts flutter.

The Valentine's Day candle: more than a gift, a moment to share

Like the massage candle, the Valentine's Day candle is all about well-being.

It casts an enveloping glow, releases a carefully chosen fragrance and turns a dinner, a relaxing evening or a cocooning ritual into a sensory memory. Its purpose? To create a romantic bubble, soft and memorable, where every detail counts: the texture of the wax, the choice of fragrance and the design of the container. The candle then becomes a scented message, a gesture that gently says “I love you”.

How to make your Valentine's Day candle

Time to get creative!

Start by preparing your container and placing a wick suited to its diameter (see our wick size guide, available on each dedicated product page). With plant-based wax, we always recommend going 1 to 2 wick sizes above what our chart suggests. Here, we used a 200 mL glass container with a waxed, pre-tabbed TCR wick, size 30/18.

Making your red hearts

  1. Start by melting your soy wax for moulded candles to 80°C. Add the fragrance when the wax reaches 75°C, and the liquid dye when it reaches 70°C. Stir for 2 minutes after each addition.

  2. Once your mixture is completely smooth, pour it into the “Heart cluster” mould and wait until the hearts have fully set.

  3. Once the hearts have set, unmould them and place them in your container.

Making the paraffin gel layer

  1. Melt the paraffin gel to between 84°C and 95°C to minimise bubbles. However, don't pour the hot gel straight onto the moulded hearts, or they may melt. Wait a few minutes for the gel to cool down: it should be neither too runny nor too thick. Pour to the height you want.

  2. Leave to stand until the paraffin gel has set.

Making the wax layer that covers the paraffin gel

  1. Melt your 4130 soy wax for container candles to 80°C. Then add your fragrance when the wax reaches 75°C and stir for 2 minutes. Pour it over the paraffin gel to cover it.

  2. Wait for the wax to set and turn white, then trim your wick to 0.7–1 cm.
