Delicate, fragrant and decidedly decorative, floral wax hangers are an ideal alternative to traditional candles for fragrancing small spaces. Tucked into a wardrobe, hung from a door handle or placed in a chest of drawers, they subtly release their fragrance while adding a romantic, handcrafted touch.
Following on from our Mother's Day DIY, where we made a scented wax melt gift box, this version brings you a new creative idea to adapt however you like.
Easy to make, needing very little equipment and fully customisable, these scented wax hangers are accessible to everyone, even beginners. And here's a real bonus: once their fragrance has faded, they can be recycled into wax melts for your wax warmer.
What you need to make your floral wax hangers
For this special Valentine's Day recipe, you will only need a few ingredients, carefully chosen to ensure a beautiful finish and optimal scent throw.

Here's what you will need:
- a mould for scented wax hangers
- a mould for small flowers
- olive wax for moulded candles and wax melts
- a candle fragrance oil, here Yummy pink
- a dye, here light pink dye chips
- a heat-resistant beaker
- a pipette for precise work
You can then build on this base however you like, playing with colours, shapes or even fragrance pairings to create one-of-a-kind hangers.
Why choose Kerax olive wax for your scented wax hangers
Olive wax is particularly recommended for making wax hangers and scented wax tablets. It gives a smooth, glossy and even finish, with no mottling or crystallisation, which is essential for decorative creations. It holds fragrance perfectly and ensures a gentle, long-lasting scent throw in enclosed spaces.
Combined with silicone moulds, it releases easily for a neat result, ideal for creations you plan to give as gifts.
Choosing your fragrance and dye
To fragrance your wax hangers, only use fragrances designed for candles and wax melts. Yummy pink brings a sweet, tender scent signature here, perfectly in tune with the spirit of Valentine's Day. Adjust the dosage to the strength you want and the concentration of your fragrance.
As for colour, the pink dye highlights the floral, romantic look of the creation. Added in a small amount to the wax used for the flowers, it creates an elegant contrast with the white flowers, which are left undyed.

Step-by-step recipe for floral scented wax hangers
Making the hanger base
- Gradually melt the olive wax for moulded candles until it reaches around 80°C.
- Once the wax is fully liquid and even, add the fragrance at 10%, the recommended dosage for scented wax hangers.
- Stir gently and steadily to make sure the fragrance is evenly distributed throughout the wax.
- When the wax is at around 75°C, add the dye chips and stir thoroughly until they have completely dissolved. For a soft, light shade, allow between 0.1% and 0.2%, or 1 to 2 g per kg of wax. For a more intense colour, increase the dosage to between 0.3% and 0.5%, or 3 to 5 g per kg of wax.
- Pour the scented mixture into the hanger mould, then leave it to cool at room temperature until it has set completely.

Making the scented wax flowers
While the hanger is setting, prepare the decorations.
- Melt a small amount of olive wax to 80°C, then add the fragrance at 10%. If you are using dye chips for the pink flowers, keep the wax at this temperature so that the dye dissolves completely.
- Then divide the mixture if needed. Stir the pink dye into one portion of the wax, then carefully fill a few cavities of the flower mould using a pipette.
- For the remaining flowers, use only the wax and fragrance mixture to get white flowers. Leave to cool completely before carefully unmoulding.

Assembling and decorating
Once all the pieces are out of their moulds, it's time to assemble.
- Melt a small amount of wax; you can let it thicken slightly.
- Apply a little to the back of each flower, then attach them to the surface of the scented wax hanger as your inspiration takes you, playing with shapes and colour contrasts.

Finishing and setting
Leave to rest one last time at room temperature so the flowers bond firmly to the hanger. Your floral scented wax hanger is now ready to use, hang or give as a gift!

Customisation and creative ideas
This recipe is the perfect base for letting your creativity run free. You can vary the flower shapes, play with different shades of pink, add mini decorative wax melts or combine several fragrances to create true themed collections. Each hanger then becomes a one-of-a-kind piece, both decorative and fragrant, designed as a small home fragrance object in its own right.
Storage tips
To keep your floral wax hangers looking beautiful and smelling their best, store them away from heat, direct light and moisture. We recommend wrapping them individually and not storing different scents together, so that each one keeps its own scent signature.
Giving your wax hangers a second life
When the scent starts to fade, your wax hangers can easily be turned into scented wax melts. Simply remove the decorative elements or check that they can safely be heated, then melt the wax in a wax warmer to enjoy its fragrance one last time.
