Pumpkins, shades of orange and white and, above all, a fragrance that gently fills your small spaces: for Halloween, scented wax hangers are getting into the spirit too!
In this tutorial, we show you how to make scented wax hangers decorated with pumpkins for Halloween. It's a simple project you can personalise with the fragrance, colours and shapes of your choice.
Hang them in a dressing room, a wardrobe or any other small space to carry the Halloween spirit right through to the smallest details of your home.
What do you need to make Halloween scented wax hangers?
To recreate this project, you will need:
- olive wax for moulded candles and wax melts;
- fragrance for candles and wax melts, here Black cherry;
- orange liquid dye for candles;
- a mould for scented wax hangers;
- small moulds with a Halloween theme, here our ghost moulds;
- the accessories needed to melt, weigh and mix your wax.
For our version, we chose the Black cherry fragrance, paired with white and orange hangers.
For the decoration, we used our Ghost king, Prankster ghost and Cuddly ghost moulds, taking just the little pumpkins from them. You can, of course, adapt the shapes to your own style and come up with other combinations.
How to make scented wax hangers for Halloween
As we saw in our previous tutorial on floral scented wax hangers for dressing rooms, these wax creations gently fragrance small spaces with no heat required. For this special Halloween version, we use the same principle, this time playing with colours and little wax decorations.
Step 1: prepare your first scented blend
Start by melting the amount of wax you need for your creation. Once the wax is ready to work with, add the fragrance of your choice. For this recipe, we use the Black cherry fragrance at a dosage of 7% to 10%.

Stir thoroughly to distribute the fragrance evenly throughout the wax.
You can of course choose a different fragrance to personalise your creation and design a scent that better suits your own take on Halloween.
Step 2: make the first white hangers
Pour some of your scented blend into two cavities of the hanger mould. Be careful not to fill the cavities completely: fill them only halfway up. You'll need this space later for adding the little wax decorations and for the second pour.
Step 3: prepare the orange hangers
Next, prepare a second blend with the same fragrance. This time, add a few drops of orange liquid dye to your wax, then stir until you get the shade you want. Pour this orange blend into the other two cavities of the mould, again only halfway up.

You now have two white bases and two orange bases, ready for their Halloween decorations.
Make the little wax pumpkins
While the first pours are setting, prepare the pieces that will decorate your scented wax hangers.
For this version, we chose three ghost shapes: Ghost king, Prankster ghost and Cuddly ghost, from which we took the pumpkins.
Pour your white and orange wax blends straight into the various cavities. You can alternate the colours from one shape to the next to create more contrast when you assemble the hangers.

Then let the wax set completely before gently releasing the pieces from the moulds.
You can copy this idea exactly or let your creativity run free with other seasonal shapes.
Assemble your scented wax hangers
Once the little wax pieces are out of their moulds and the first pours have set enough, it's time for the most creative part: the arrangement. Place the pumpkins directly on the hangers however you like.

For example, you can place an orange pumpkin on a white base to heighten the contrast, or go for a more monochrome look. When you're happy with the layout, top up each cavity with wax right up to the rim of the mould. This second pour holds the little decorations in place while completing the hanger. Then let your creations set before carefully releasing them from the mould.
Where to hang a scented wax hanger
Once released from the mould, your hangers are ready to take their place in your small spaces!
They can be hung in a dressing room or a wardrobe, where they gradually release their fragrance while adding a little decorative touch.
Their appeal lies precisely in this dual purpose: they bring fragrance without any heat, while also being a small wax object that you can personalise completely.
Just remember to keep your hangers away from heat sources so that they hold their shape.
Scented wax hangers and wax melts: expand your range of wax creations
If you already make your own scented wax melts, this recipe lets you explore another way of working with wax and fragrance.
The ingredients and techniques are similar, but the use is different: a wax melt is designed to be heated in a wax warmer, whereas a hanger releases its fragrance unheated, in a small space.
That's also what makes hangers so interesting for makers: starting from their usual fragrances and colours, they can come up with a different type of creation and extend their seasonal themes more easily.
Over to you: create your own Halloween scented wax hangers
Pumpkins, a fruity fragrance or a darker scent, classic colours or unexpected pairings: above all, this recipe is an invitation to dream up your own designs.
Choose your fragrance, prepare your different colours and have fun arranging your little decorations before the final pour. All that's left is to hang your creations in your small spaces and let their fragrance set the mood for your Halloween decor.
