What if the flowers in your next bouquet were made of wax?

With a few moulds, a palette of dyes and the fragrance of your choice, wax becomes a floral arrangement that never wilts. Each flower can be designed on its own, then assembled into a bouquet in the colours and scent notes of your choice.

For this autumn version, we have gone for earthy tones, amber or softly powdery shades and fragrances with woody, spicy or gourmand accents. But the principle stays the same all year round: change the moulds, the colours or the fragrance, and the bouquet reinvents itself. A creative way to build a scented ambience that evolves with the seasons.

For your first creation, our "Bouquet of flowers" kit brings together everything you need to make a bouquet of 10 scented wax flowers, with step-by-step instructions and a video tutorial.

The autumn wax melt bouquet: a made-to-measure, reusable creation

The scented wax bouquet draws on the conventions of a traditional floral arrangement while adding a creative, sensory dimension. The flowers are moulded in scented wax, then assembled on picks to form a decorative bouquet.

The advantage? You can design your arrangement however you like. A tone-on-tone palette of terracotta, a few touches of orange and brown, flowers with generous or more delicate shapes: there are plenty of ways to make it your own.

This creation is also a lovely alternative to fresh flowers. It needs no care and keeps its decorative look over time, while gently releasing its fragrance as a cold throw. The idea can also be adapted to each season: after discovering our DIY spring wax flower bouquet, let this autumn version with its warm tones inspire you.

What you will need

To make your autumn floral bouquet, you will need:

  • Wax suitable for wax melts and moulded creations (here, olive wax for moulded candles)
  • Flower moulds of your choice
  • Fragrance oil for candles and wax melts
  • Wax dyes (here, brown solid dye and orange liquid dye)
  • Flower picks
  • Floral foam or a suitable base
  • Beakers
  • A centring tool to keep the picks perfectly straight while pouring
  • Dried flowers or decorative elements, as you like
  • Biodegradable glitter for a sparkling finish (optional)

How to make your floral arrangement, step by step

1. Prepare your base.
Start by cutting the floral foam to the size of your container. It will serve as the base that holds the wax flowers in place and makes it easy to build your bouquet. To get the right measurements, press lightly on the foam, as shown in the photo below, to leave a mark.

2. Melt the wax and add the fragrance.
Heat the amount of wax you need, following the temperatures recommended for your wax. Once the wax has melted, let it cool to the right temperature for adding fragrance. Add your fragrance oil and stir thoroughly so that it is evenly distributed throughout the wax. Take your time and mix well before pouring.

3. Create your different shades.
If you want a multicoloured bouquet, divide the scented wax between several beakers. Then add your chosen dyes and stir until the colour is even.

For a more sophisticated result, you can also create two-tone or ombré effects by combining two shades in the same mould.

4. Prepare the moulds.
Place the picks in the centre of the moulds and keep them perfectly straight with a centring tool. This step gives you flowers that are easy to slot into your arrangement afterwards.

5. Pour the wax.
Gently pour the coloured wax into the different moulds. Alternate colours and shapes to create a harmonious arrangement. For an ombré effect, start with a small amount of a first colour before topping up with a second shade.

6. Unmould your creations and adjust the picks.
Wait until the wax has fully hardened before carefully unmoulding your flowers.

7. Arrange your bouquet.
Insert the wax flowers into the floral foam, varying the shapes, heights and colours. Start with the largest pieces, then gradually fill in the gaps.

8. Add the finishing touches.
Add a few dried flowers or decorative elements to give the arrangement more texture. A light touch of biodegradable glitter can also make some of the flowers sparkle.

A reusable kit for endless creations

The appeal of this idea does not stop at a single bouquet. Once you have gathered your equipment, you can reuse the moulds and accessories to come up with new arrangements. Simply change the fragrance, the dye or the shape, and your bouquet takes on a whole new identity.

You can also replace just some of the flowers when their scent fades, without having to recreate the whole arrangement.

This makes it a particularly good idea for creating seasonal collections, personalised gifts or arrangements to match an event.

Storage tips

To keep your wax flowers at their best, store your bouquet away from heat, moisture and direct light. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can soften or warp the wax, alter the colours and speed up the evaporation of the fragrance. Choose a dry place at a moderate temperature, away from any heat source.

The cold throw of wax melts is naturally gradual and fades over time. How long it lasts depends in particular on the fragrance used, its concentration and the storage conditions.

When the flowers give off less scent, you have several options: replace some of the flowers with new scented creations, or take the flowers off their base and use them as wax melts in a wax warmer, if their composition and intended use allow it.
