Step-by-step recipe for a spring candle
Making the small decorative flowers
Tip:
To make your wax melts easier to unmould, add 5% beeswax to your plant-based wax. A glossier finish and a better scent throw, guaranteed!
- Heat the wax for moulded candles to 80°C. Allow about 60 g of wax to fill both the “Flower cluster” and “Daisy” moulds.
- When the wax reaches 75°C, add the fragrance, then stir for 2 to 3 minutes to make sure it is fully incorporated, for the best possible scent throw.
-
Divide your mixture into 3 portions or more, depending on how many colour variations you want.
-
Add the dyes once the fragrance is in:
- Liquid dye: at about 70°C
- Dye chips: at about 75°C
Stir thoroughly until the colour is even.
- When the wax cools to between 60°C and 65°C, pour the mixtures into the flower-shaped moulds.
-
Leave to set for several hours, then unmould gently to preserve the details.

Making the candle base
- Heat the container candle wax to 80°C. For a 730 mL container (the one used in this tutorial), allow about 440 g of wax, plus a little extra to make sure your container is properly filled.
- Prepare the container. If you are using cotton wicks, attach 2 to 3 wicks with self-adhesive wick pads, then centre them. Match the number and size of the wicks to the diameter; here we recommend:
-
- 2 wicks: TCR 30/18
- 3 wicks: TCR 24/12
The Zen attitude wooden wick can also be used for a burn suited to this container. Make sure the wax melts are arranged so that they do not get in the way of the flame.
- At 75°C, add the fragrance, then stir for 2 to 3 minutes.
- If you want to colour the base:
- Liquid dye: add at 70°C
- Dye chips: add at 75°C - Let the wax cool to between 60°C and 65°C before pouring, to limit cracks, bubbles and frosting.

- Leave to rest for several hours, then trim the wicks to 0.5 to 0.7 cm.
- Using a heat gun, gently warm the surface so the decorative flowers stick more easily, then arrange them to create your design.

- If you like, add a touch of mica, taking care not to exceed 2 to 3 g per 100 g of wax. If you add dried flowers, be sure to treat them with a suitable flame retardant to limit any risk while the candle is burning.
Colour combination ideas for your wax melts
Take the opportunity to pair fragrances with colours and create cohesive, immersive themes.
This very soft colour scheme goes perfectly with fragrances such as “Sakura blossom”, “Apricot blossom”, “Driftwood” and “Pacific sunrise”.

This more floral palette pairs beautifully with “Eternal rose”, “Peony”, “Cherry rice milk” and “Poppy”.

Finally, this zingier trio of colours calls to mind spring fragrances such as “Orange blossom”, “Clementine”, “Mimosa” and “Orange blossom Boost”.

Conclusion
Treat this project as a creative playground: match your shades to coherent scent accords, dream up themed series (floral pastels, mineral greens, sunny citrus) and take care over the styling in your photos or on your stall. Slip in a scented card, offer a matching gift box and let your customers put together their own “candle + wax melts” duo.
