Fancy a candle that instantly conjures up holidays, sunshine and summer terraces? Fall for the peach iced tea candle, a strikingly realistic creation that recreates the look of a cold drink served over ice. Its fruity, thirst-quenching fragrance makes it a decorative piece that's as eye-catching as it is delightful to burn.

Original, on-trend and perfectly suited to the warmer months, this candle appeals as much to DIY enthusiasts as to makers looking to add a piece with real visual impact to their summer collection.

An ideal creation for summer sales

When the sunny days arrive, customers look for fresh, fruity scents and eye-catching products. This candle brings together everything that makes a product an instant favourite.

  • A gourmand, refreshing fragrance
  • An original iced-drink design
  • A laid-back holiday spirit
  • An easy-to-gift format
  • Excellent visual impact in a shop or on a market stall

Do watch out for summer heat, though. To preserve the structure of the paraffin gel, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun or to the heat of a closed vehicle. The same goes for the gender reveal candle: too high a temperature could soften the wax, start it melting and reveal the colour inside before it is even used.

Essential ingredients for this creation

Raw materials

  • 250 g paraffin gel
  • 7% to 10% Peach iced tea fragrance
  • 0.25 g brown dye chips (i.e. 0.1% of 250 g)

For a pastel finish, use between 0.1% and 0.2% dye. For a more intense result, increase to between 0.3% and 0.5%.

Accessories

  • 200 mL candle glass
  • LX 22 wick
  • Rectangle soap mould
  • Self-adhesive wick pad
  • Wick centring tool
  • Serrated knife
  • Bain-marie or two metal containers
  • Pipette
  • Wick trimmer

How to make your drink candle, step by step

1. Prepare your container

Stick the self-adhesive wick pad to the bottom of the glass, fix the wick in the centre, then hold it upright with a wick centring tool. Doing this ahead of time means you can concentrate on temperatures when it's time to pour.

2. Make the decorative ice cubes

Melt part of the paraffin gel to around 90°C. Add 7% to 10% fragrance, then stir gently. Never exceed 110°C. Pour into the mould and leave to set completely. Move straight on to the next step, as the remaining gel needs to stay hot.

3. Prepare the coloured base

Gradually add the brown dye to the remaining gel while it is still melted and hot, until you get a shade close to iced tea; 0.25 g of dye chips is enough here. Then pour into the prepared container.

4. Cut the ice cubes

Unmould the cooled blocks, then cut them into irregular cubes with a serrated knife to make the effect even more realistic.

5. Add the ice cubes

Wait until the base has cooled a little before adding the cubes, so they don't lose their shape. Arrange them naturally, varying their heights and angles.

Tip: you can keep the leftover gel to make jelly wax melts later on.

Storage tips

  • To preserve the look and fragrance of your candle, store it at room temperature, away from heat sources.
  • Also protect it from dust with a lid or a glass cloche, to keep the gel clear and the finish flawless.
