The No. 22 taper candle mould – 200 x 22 mm is specially designed for making slim, elegant taper candles. Thanks to its classic, slender format, it lets you create moulded candles with a clean, professional finish, ideal for decorative, ceremonial or craft use.
Made from fire-resistant glass, this mould offers excellent heat resistance and great durability over time. It is supplied with a metal needle that keeps the wick perfectly centred during pouring. For an optimum seal, we recommend using sealing putty or a sealing plug.
Warning : this mould is not suitable for making beeswax taper candles.
Glass offers a major advantage in making moulded candles. It allows filling in a single step and helps achieve a smooth, glossy surface when the wax temperature is properly controlled.
Its 22 mm diameter calls for a suitable wick, an essential condition for an even, safe burn. For this, choose wicks on spools.
Melt your moulded candle wax to a temperature between 80 and 90 °C, checking with a thermometer. This temperature is key to achieving a glossy surface and easier demoulding.
You can use a silicone-free release spray to make removal easier. Remember to clean your moulds with soapy water after use.
If you want to colour your taper candle, add colourant chips or liquid colourant at a rate of about 1 to 2 g per 1 kg of wax. Mix thoroughly. Too much colourant can impair burn quality.
Choose a wick suited to the 22 mm diameter. Tie a slip knot at one end, insert the wick into the hole in the mould, then pull it taut before securing it with the metal needle supplied. Make sure the knot properly blocks the hole to prevent any wax leaks.
Steady your moulds, positioned “upside down”, in a suitable holder. This step is essential to ensure a straight pour and avoid any deformation of the taper candle.
A holder specially designed for taper candle moulds is recommended to ensure perfect stability during filling.
Glass moulds can be filled in one go. As the wax cools, a hollow may appear. To correct this, carefully pierce the semi-hard wax with a fine needle, then top up with a little hot wax.
Once the wax has cooled completely, undo the slip knot by pulling on the end of the loop, then carefully remove the taper candle. If necessary, place the mould in the fridge for a few minutes to make demoulding easier.
The No. 22 glass taper candle mould is a reliable, durable tool for all DIY candle making enthusiasts. Its precision and standard format make it an ideal partner for producing elegant, even and perfectly centred taper candles.
