One of the great strengths of Jesmonite is how easily it can be coloured, so you can create one-of-a-kind pieces perfectly suited to your taste or your interior style. From soft, natural tones to the boldest shades, not to mention marbled or stone-effect finishes, the possibilities for customisation are almost endless.

For a result that is both beautiful and long-lasting, Jesmonite® pigments have been specially formulated to blend seamlessly with the brand’s materials. Liquid and water-based, they give even, intense and stable colour without altering the technical properties of your mix.

Jesmonite® pigments are compatible with every product in the range. If you are not yet sure which base to choose, our article on the differences between Jesmonite AC100, AC84 and AC730 will help you decide.

What Jesmonite pigments let you do

  • Create your own shades: the pigments are fully miscible with one another, so you can blend them freely for an unlimited palette of colours.
  • Dose to the intensity you want: a few drops for a subtle tint, more for a bold, rich colour (see the dosage guidelines below).
  • Play with surface effects: solid colour or marbled finish, it all depends on how you incorporate the pigment.

  • Get an even result: the liquid formula disperses perfectly through the mix, with no lumps or unwanted streaks.

Did you know? Black pigment is especially popular for creating slate, dark concrete or basalt effects, and for producing a whole range of greys when combined with other colours.

Two techniques, depending on the effect you want

Solid colour

Add the pigment directly to the Jesmonite liquid before combining it with the powder.

Marbled effect

Add the pigment to the mix once it is prepared, then stir lightly to keep the veins of colour.

Dosage: key guidelines

  • Standard dosage: between 0.5% and 1% of the total weight of the mix, enough for an intense, elegant colour in the vast majority of projects.
  • Maximum dosage: 2% of the total weight. Do not go above this, or you risk affecting the setting time, the mechanical strength and the evenness of the colour.

Overdosing can alter the technical properties of the material. Always test on a small quantity before starting a production run.

Usage tips

  • Shake the bottle before each use to blend the pigment evenly.
  • Carry out your trials on small quantities to fine-tune the exact shade you want.
  • Store your pigments in a clean, dry place, between 5°C and 25°C.

Note before use: Jesmonite pigments have not been tested for food safety, so they must not be used for creations intended to come into direct contact with food.

Storing Jesmonite® pigments

For best results, the products should be kept at a constant temperature between 5 and 25°C. Store them in a clean, dry place, away from any contaminants. Do not allow them to freeze.
