The war in Ukraine has turned the daily lives of millions of families upside down, and its effects are being felt far beyond the country’s borders. At Terre de Bougies, we decided to do our part to help households plunged into darkness.
Shedding light on the crisis in Ukraine
Since February 2022, Ukraine has been at war. Its consequences for our daily lives, and for Europe as a whole, worry us and affect us deeply.
The whole country is affected, but the East has been hit hardest by the conflict. Most women and children have fled, while many others are still fighting to defend their country. Those who have stayed near the front lines, in places such as Mariupol, face a desperate shortage of food, drinking water and basic necessities: heating and electricity. And without electricity, families are left in the dark. That is exactly the need we chose to address.
Candles to make up for the lack of electricity
To help households without power, we are sending 750 kg of plain, ready-to-use candles, with the help of the non-profit organisation PromoUkraïna. The aim: to give people light so they can carry on with everyday household tasks, even after dark.
We have taken care of all the logistics to make sure this donation reaches Ukrainian families.

In this unprecedented situation, a shortage of raw materials, including some of our waxes, is currently extending delivery times for several of our products.
